Clinical Information
CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily expressed on the surface of B lymphocytes and follicular dendritic cells. CD19 is a critical regulator in B-cell development, activation, and differentiation, expressed from the earliest recognizable B-cell lineage stage throughout development, and then lost upon plasma cell maturation.

Special Considerations
- Fresh Tissues: Specimens may be fixed in formalin for 24-72 hours by collection sites, then transferred to 70% ethanol and stored at 2-8°C for longer term storage if needed. Samples must be tested 3 months after placing in ethanol.
- Unstained slides: Positively charged glass slides required to prevent background staining and prevent tissue loss. Slides should be left unbaked.
