TGF-b1 (ELISA)

Test ID: G ELISA TGF-b1 CPT Code: N/A

Expected Turnaround Time
7 days
Stated turn-around-times (TATs) are for clinical use only and subject to change based on biopharma protocol requirements. Final TATs will be specified in the biopharma study contract.

Clinical Information
TGF-ß1 (Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1) is a multifunctional cytokine involved in various cellular processes, such as immune regulation, cell differentiation, and fibrosis. The TGF-ß1 ELISA is used for detecting TGF-ß1 levels in serum. The assay provides quantitative measurements of TGF-ß1 by using a substrate reaction that produces a detectable signal proportional to the concentration of TGF-ß1.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Requirements

Blood should be drawn into the SST tube, which contains a gel separator that helps to separate the serum from blood cells after centrifugation. The tube should be allowed to clot at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes and then centrifuged.

Specimen Stability
  • Whole blood in SST: 48 hours
  • Refrigerated serum: 48 hours
  • Frozen serum: long term

Storage Requirements
  • Whole blood in SST: 2°C to 8°C
  • Refrigerated serum: 2°C to 8°C
  • Frozen serum: ≤ -15°C

Shipping Recommendations
  • Whole blood in SST: REFRIGERATED, Protect from extreme temperature with ice pack. Separate ice pack from specimen.
  • Refrigerated serum: REFRIGERATED, Protect from extreme temperature with ice pack. Separate ice pack from specimen.
  • Frozen serum: FROZEN, Ship samples on dry ice. Separate dry ice from specimens.

Specimen Rejection Criteria

Improper specimen labeling; Insufficient sample volume; Specimens beyond stability
